4 p.m. update: A panel of six men and six women has been selected in the trial. Judge David Crain has put the trial in recess until 9:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Earlier: Jury selection began this morning in the trial of Lester Ray Guy, a suspect in the September 1978 rape and killing of Jazel Ivy.
Developments in DNA technology helped investigators revive the cold case. Ivy was found dead in her South Austin apartment. Investigators said the cause of death was asphyxiation during intercourse. Guy is already serving a 99-year sentence for burglary with intent to commit rape.
Prosecutors are expected to begin presenting their case this afternoon.
