Ken Anderson’s deposition - in which the former Williamson County district attorney answers questions from Michael Morton’s lawyers - will not be released until next week.
A transcript of the deposition, which lasted 12 hours spread over two days, will be filed Monday, Nov. 28, with the District Court in Georgetown, Morton’s lawyers said today.
Morton’s lawyers originally intended to release the document Tuesday.
Last week, Anderson apologized to Morton, saying the criminal justice system failed the exonerated Texan. But Anderson denied any responsibility for the 25 years Morton had spent in prison for a crime he did not commit.
Much of the deposition relates to allegations, made by Morton’s lawyers in several court filings, that Anderson hid evidence favorable to Morton before his 1987 trial.
Morton was freed from prison last month after DNA tests linked another man to the murder of his wife, Christine.
